Logitech Cordless Elite Duo - Scroll Button Settings

I'm having some trouble with my mouse. I love the cordless keyboard and mouse that came with the set, but I can't get the scroll to work right in several programs of mine. Here's the run down of what's happening:

In the Mouse Properties panel, there are options to configure each individual button to do whatever you want them to do. The scroll is by default set to 'WebWheel', which I can't stand. Well, there's only one other setting that relate to the scroll. It's the 'Universal Scroll' option. I have it set to that now, and the scroll does work in programs like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firebird, and so on, BUT the middle click feature that should happen when you press the scroll wheel down doesn't work =( For example, when I try to 'Middle Click' with the scroll button on a link in MozillaFirebird in order to open up the link in a new tab, it doesn't work (yes I have the options set to where it will).

One other problem I'm having with it is in games, like Dungeon Siege. The scroll will pan down in scroll windows, but WON'T zoom in and out on the screen using the scroll wheel. For those of you familiar with Dungeon Siege, you'll know what I'm taking about. However, if I use the scroll wheel that's located on the Keyboard (the Cordless Elite Duo has one on the keyboard as well) it will work, just like the mouse SHOULD be, but isn't.

Now, if any of you manged to make sense of what I just typed (I know, it's a bit confusing and I'm not sure I spoke very clearly, but I tried <grin>)... please help =)

I'm looking for any settings that will set my mouse scroll the way it should be... the way that the scroll on my keyboard IS working. I'd just use the keyboard, but it's a bit awkward since I use that hand for hotkeys in Dungeon Siege and other games. I thought since this keyboard/mouse is pretty common, that someone might have a solution or tell me what I need to set in order to get it to behave the way I'd like.

Thanks a bunch,
Kaziah

Which OS are you using?

If you don't give it drivers, XP will just recognize it as a normal scrolly mouse. You can't use the thumb button, but it was better than having a malfunctioning scroll wheel.

2000, MAY do the same, but I'm not positive. It's been a while.

I'm using WinXP Pro. So you recommend just removing the Logitech custom app & settings and just letting Windows use generic drivers for it?

I'd hate to lose my special keys on my keyboard, but I think I agree with you... it's better than not having my scroll on my mouse working. Maybe I can remove just the mouse drivers/software. Anyway...

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Sweet, I just tried it and it worked. Thanks Whir for the suggestion! The MouseWare and iTouch were both separate installations too, so my keyboard special keys all still work! I only had to uninstall the MouseWare part, so it's just like you said, I just lost my thumb button... which doesn't bother me at all. I'm just happy the scroll is working 'right' now.

Thanks a bunch!

Later,
Kaziah
