whats faster raid0 or raid0/1 ?

Hi

guys whats faster raid0 or raid0/1 ?

I hear its raid0 but why ?

raid0 (stripeing) is faster because the the file is split across multiple drives which allows simultaneous writing to occur.

raid0+1 will be slower because you have the added overhead of the mirror.

Raid 0 is simpler..maybe that would be why.

And it says about raid 0+1 ----> "All drives must move in parallel to proper track lowering sustained performance"


So RAID 0+1 is still fast..just not quite as fast as Raid 0...but of course in Raid 0 if you lose either drive..you lose all the data...Raid 0+1 has 4 drives so you can lose one and still recover etc.

Raid 10 is a similar idea to raid 0+1 but it has two pairs of mirrored drives forming a stripe set....I dunno which is faster between raid 10 and 0+1..my gut says 10 is faster.

I had an idea about all this + I had incorrect info from a friend and I was pretty confused
