Logical drives are not listed in device manager. Use disk management instead.

You can access it via management console.
right click on my computer->manage

hi, thanks for stopping in. My disks have returned, disappeared and returned again. The event viewer is full of event id 51 paging errors on a disk. following microsoft help i got lost, though it seems that E disk is a problem. I cannot access it as it is now not formatted, i tried to format it but it failed. Im not sure if its a faulty disk or configuration. i looked in disk management all disks are shown up and apparently active and/ or healthy, even the Inaccesssible E: drive. I have tried disabling E: but then the paging error messages started referring to a different disk\device..Im not good at hardware but if you point me in the right direction i can find information that can help.

O/s win 2000 pro Sp4, the drives are SCSi (I thought they were IDE but in registry editor they arescsi) I think this shows how little i know! What should i do now, is this a serious problem?

after this mesage i had to restart pc to be ale to reconnect to internet, is things getting worse? i have now disabled E: drive, is this enough is is there more i should do. i would like to know more about this, for instance the setup i am using is IDE with the dodgy disk as secondary master, i think. I dont think i can understand the disk configuration if i dont know if im on scsi or ide or even have much idea what they are! I think this is a corrupt disk rather than configuration after reading this: http://support.microsoft.com/default...-US%3BQ244780&
... and getting this message

The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume E:.

these are the errors that now have stopped since E was disabled.

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR5 during a paging operation.

Welcome to TechIMO!

Have you run the manufacturers diagnostic disk program to see if your drive is going south?

Hi again thanks for helping, but the inevitable is the disk is dead. after searching this forum and recognising the "click of death" post as being familiar from this afternoon i have given it up. besides its fujitsu mpg series and ive been been to their website and read of their court case concerning these disks, so its definitely dead. its disabled at present, but set as secondary master and pcsearches for itwhen i boot up. Is This going to cause problems or how can i reset this configuration?
