OMG another NTLDR missing problem.. but wait there's more...
Here are my system specs:
XP PRO
MSI K7N2 Delta
AMD 2200+
1GB RAM
120GB HD (partitioned 60c/60)
80GB HD (partitioned 40/40)
Lite-on DVD+RW
CD+RW
550W Antec PS
(That should be enough on the system specs for now, if you need more let me know)
Okay yesterday I leave my computer running and go and watch a movie, come back up and the screen reads "NTLDR missing or corrupt press CTRL+ATL+DEL to RESTART...”
At this point after hitting restart too many times I find this forum and another like this.
So I take the following steps to correct it:
RESTART THE SYSTEM
Held down DEL to get to BIOS
Changed to boot w/ CD ROM before HD
Inserted my XP CD
RESTART
Hit any key to load w/ CD
Hit R for the recover Consol
and typed in "fixboot" at the C:/ Prompt
Restarted... and restarted again... it is booting hoorah!
umm problem...
It boots fine.. takes a little longer but it is good. However once I get to the user screen (the one that shows all the profiles that are loaded on the computer) and I click on my profile it loads like normal and then the system just stops running. After everything has loaded (in the background) the computer stops responding (tried to run a system check w/ NSW and a virus check). The computer won't budge.
So I restart... won't through the start menu I have to manually restart.... long story a little shorter...
I try to get back the recovery console.. this is where I'm lost.
The recovery console comes up and now it asks what windows do I want to log into and says c:/ and f:/ . Now I don't have windows on two drives, have win XP pro full version and f:/ wasn't on my list of options the first time I ran the recovery consol.
How did I manage to get windows on two drives and this explains windows confusion when I load it up.... any suggestions on how to remove the windows data from the F Drive while in the recovery console, because I can't with windows loaded.
Well I hope that I explained the problem clearly and would appreciate any help you could give.
