D,E, F, G,H,I,J when formating C
I want to format C to reinstall win98se
so what happens to all the files and apps on the other drives that have links to C
I have two HD's 40gig C,D,E and a 80gig F,G,H,I,J
Do I move everything to D except the windows folder, or just program files folder
well I guess I'm asking whats the least painful way to reinstall win98se

If you reinstall windows, you have to reinstall all applications, whether they reside on D:, E:, C:,.....

Why are you reinstalling the OS?

Why?!?!
If you reinstall the OS and format C:, nothing happens to the rest of your drives
Soon as you reinstall you'll be able to see those drives (Assuming you don't accidentally repartition!!!!)
Its always a good idea to backup critical data though!
i should do that someday
(as noted above, if you have apps/games installed to other drives, you'll have to reinstall!)

why?? when all is well ( nothings well with M$ )
1) I never reinstalled with two HD's ( I always just wiped the whole drive )
2) I read somewhere a while back, that the OS gets stale
3) I was bored
4) No blue sceens, I felt I was't normal
I have about 45gigs of stuff, 32gigs mp3's
i can leave those alone right?

Yeppers..... just make SURE you disconnect the 'other' drives (if you aren't sure) , and boot to a DOS disk & do a DIR to VERIFY that C: is indeed the drive yo want to bake.....
Once you're registry gets all ballooned up - it gets slooower....loading things that either don't exist or aren't needed .
I used to format about every 6-12 months when I ran W98 (gold/original NOT SE) -- I still don't miss those quirks !!
It freakin' AMAZES me to hear people say how 'stable' & 'rock solid' their W98,98SE,ME sytems are... I guess if you've never run NT , 2k or XP -- you have NOTHING to benchmark "stable" against...lol
"the OS gets stale".... 10-4!

I can live with wiping both drives, except the mp3's
I own all of them, I've ben ripping my CD collection for back-up, and it's easier than getting up opening cases and putting a disk in
so if I format all the drives except the one with the mp3's I should be alright?

No need to format the other drives, however if you have installed software on the other drives (thats not default, default is c: ) you will need to reinstall those programs as well as the configuration files were stored on the main drive.
