If I were to build a high end gaming server for maximum players over a lan with games like halo, battlefield and half-life 2 (if supported) what processing chip would probaly be the best to use. If I can use like a p4 or amd xp regular or 64 and still get the preformance than I will pick that and save some money.

Use AMD XP modded to MP by connecting one of the bridges. I forget exactly which one. Google it and find out.
