Should I or shouldn't I? (FX5200 Ultra for $99)
My Dimension 4100 has a GeForce2 MX (32MB). CompUSA has a Verto GeForce FX 5200 Ultra for $99 (AR). Would this be a decent boost for my system's video?
I've been looking around since my sister got me TR Angel of Darkness, which runs very poorly.

I think that anything would be better then your GeFroce2 MX for running the newer games. Eventhough it is a very good card for its days (performace to price ratio wise)
It is a couple of generations old.
I heard not the best things for the FX line, and everyone is jumping on the ATI band wagon.
Sometimes its better to pay more but have a strong card that will last you for a while then paying a little and wanting to upgrade again a couple of months down the road.
At least that is my opinon, I could be wrong.

It'd be better, but I'm not inclined to spend any money on the 5200 line. Its just too damn weak. Find another $50 and get a 9600 Pro is my advice.

Or for almost the same $$$ you can buy right now a GF4 Ti4200 which is still better than the FX 5200!

new here, buy here's my thought... I bought a GE Force FX 5200 Lite series 128 mg and it is ok, but benchmarking sucks....
I would buy a better card if possible, but money is always the first problem and what you use it for.

another thought...if you buy a TI 4200 series...the 5200 FX beats the x4 TI 4200, so if you go with the TI go with a x8 series if your board supports the x8 series cards....

The FX5200 does _NOT_ beat the Ti4200 at any AGP speed.

Was told the x4 ti 4200 benchmarked lower then the fx 5200, was also shown a benchmark from pc club...but then again...they could be wrong also...all together the fx 5200 is at bottom in my book...sry if i am wrong |

From what i've seen the 5200 compares to a GF4 MX card.Perhaps they had the card overclocked to max ? Then perhaps it might be on par with the 4200

you serisouly cannot go wrong with a ti4200.
i have my ti4200 128mb 8xagp oc'ed to 295/545 and it gets about 13,000 in 3dmrk2001. at stock it got like 10,000. i doubt a FX could get 10,000. you wont be disapointed with at 4200.
