Packard Bell info

Does anyone know where I can get Info on this thing. It is ancient, and I can't seem to find any info on it anywhere.

It is a Packard Bell Model 830, ID #:845560106, Serial #:P481006476

Any help would be appreciated.

Wolf

AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

crazyray beat me to da punch.

Musta sniffed it out before me, as the punch has hazelnut liquor in it !

OK, as the honorary President of the US PB Society, and the once proud owner of three of the four working PB computers in US, I should point out that when PB stopped selling its wonderful computers as the demand was too great for both Euope and US, it continued in Europe.

Priority One assumed the Tech Support and sell of replacement parts. You do have to sign-up to get support and there may even be a fee for some types.

Err..if you do a Search on Packard Bell and about p8 or so you will find, "How many Members own a Packard Bell computers" and "upgrading a packard bell".

Them squirrels is fast !

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOG

P.S. Look to see what "line" it's on e.eg. "Platinum" Multimedia" "Axcel".

Also, it probably has an NLX riser card Mobo and an AT or Baby AT PSU. Look at the PSU. Also, see if the memory is DIMM or SIMM.
If I recall, PB used some proprietary memory which ran at 3.3v instead of the 5v used in that time. Be careful with the memory untill you know more and can get a Manual.

Media Hey Meg!!

...eeewwwww, that sounds kinda girly!!

I began my long descent into computer hell with the purchase of a Packard Bell at Sam's. (Ain't it great to be an American!!) As Meg noted, Priority One added the Packard Bell line to their other proud lines (e-Machine, NEC) and became mucho busy providin' support.

I gave mine to my soon-to-be-ex-son-in-law.

All I can say is, da Punch Bowl was empty when I got there !

Err..imagine three WORKING PB computers at the same time in the same place !

Let me tell you though, the Lite-on PSU's they used were tough, 'cause all my PB "foundlings" worked a decade later !

And those 'Tower 'n Pizza box' cases were strong enough to stand on.

I'm gonna drink my V8 now.

I think I had the other one DOOOG! It's up in my attic now in several pieces. I robbed the drives off of it years ago but it would probably fire right up if I tired it.

I guess I was just lucky because I really never had a problem with mine. 486/50mhz/8mb ram. Quite a machine,hu?

I still have a perfectly good PB P133 machine. All original and runs like new. For all the bad press PB's got I've often wondered how much of the trouble was a result of the users. These were sold at discount stores etc and most likely went to the least computer literate people around. Just wondering...........
