Mandatory DRM in 2005?

Looks like you'll have DRM in your TV and in your computer if it's made after July 2005 and live in the USA. This is not looking good..

That's just delightful. The movie/tv/music industry and their golf-partners in the government feel the need to make money off of every single scrap of information that's out there. Not only will the days of p2p be gone, but I fear that the days of loaning a friend a book, cd, or movie will be gone soon as well. No more sharing of any kind! Sharing is bad! Didn't we all learn this as children?

I'm sure there will be hacks.. like anything else.. guess you'll have to use your JUNE 2005 PC/TV then

Or purchase that HDTV OTA card now before they put any DRM in it..

What about home made comps? Will they be required to have these DRM's in them as well to be able to read the media?

We have NO privacy in our own homes. Everyday its more and more. More tech less rights.

They will have to buy new DVD players to watch TV programmes, and movies may be recorded using this technology in the future.
Hmm I can only wonder how well this bs will hold up.
I wouldn't expect sales to hold up if they keep taking rights away, at the moment sales are going down, not because of p2p mainly, but because of their actions and the economy, while the economy might not be the biggest issue, but soo many people aren't buying into their bs and are not buying cd's if they aren't wanting to get sued for downloading them. Also with charging soo much for a single disk, do they not understand it is hard to pay for music while having other things to pay for things live living expenses with housing prices up to an extreme and keep rising with ever increasing costs of living with out paying nearly $20 for a disk?

let it happen, when it hits politicians what this actually means, like when they cant enjoy anything themselves, then they will scramble to change things, until then, we are forced to bask in their stupidity
