Dang! I'd love to have a copy of that. There's no Fry's around here.

I plan to rebuild fairly soon being that Christmas is around the corner and everything. I will without a doubt be putting a partition on my HD in preparation for LINUX, cause, I like a quiet life and am sick of XP giving me grief !!!
Looking forward to a good arguement as to why its not a good idea !!!

Awesome deal! May drag dad for a trip to Fry's. It's more fun using his credit card.

I already have the Unix in a Nutshell book.

*EDIT* Let me check the Fry's ads first.

Well, I've just bought 3rd edition a month or so ago, and TBH I haven't used it much. Its nice to have as a reference though.
Any major changes between 3rd and 4th? or is it just updating the software explanations etc.

Be advised that this is not a book you sit down and read -it is a great reference guide for when you want to know a command or config file example I guess.

Basic commands seldom change much, so AFAIK the 4th edition contains all of the 3rd edition and there's a little more about KDE and a few other things.

doddsy - there is a very good (and free) online course over at www.linux.org and it covers all of the important basics of Linux. I highly recommend it.
