DVD Drive Problem with windows XP?

I have a 5x Sony DDU-220E DVD Drive and my drive is reconized as a DVD Drive in Device Manager within XP, but when I insert a DVD into the drive, it says "incorrect disk". On the other hand, with the same computer having Windows ME installed, I can play and watch DVDs easily. What is happening? I am a computer system builder and this happening everytime when I try to install XP on a system. I checked for updated firmware online, but couldn't find anything. Any advice?

P.S. System Specs:

2.4Ghz Celeron CPU
Biostar P4SXQ Mobo
256Mb PC2100 RAM
60Gb Maxtor 7200RPM HD
Floppy Drive
56K Modem
Direct X 8.1 Installed
Windows XP Installed
All Window's Updates Downloaded

do you have a copy of cyber Dvd or the k-lite codec pack that comes with a Dvd decoder?

if it reads data and music just fine, im guessing that the dvd decoder or software is not working correctly.

if you have win dvd, cyber dvd, or any other decoder and it still doesnt work check how much memory your video card has, my 8 meg wouldnt play some dvd's for some reason, but my new fx5600 plays everything seamlessly, and also came with copies of Cyber Dvd and win Dvd.

if this doesnt help I wish you good luck and I too will look for a solution for you.

I don't think that it is the software. I have tried WinDVD, PowerDVD, CyberDVD, ...etc. Xp doesn't even reconize it in windows explorer as a "DVD Drive". It says "CD-Drive". In device manager, it is reconized as a DVD Drive though. I can leave the settings the same and place a 16x LG DVD Drive inside of the system and windows explorer will then reconize it as a "DVD Drive". The only time this Sony DVD Drive works is on an OS below Windows XP. Maybe the DVD drive is not compatible with Windows XP. I'm not sure, but this has happen multiple times with multiple systems with Win XP installed. Now, I don't even sell these DVD Drives with Win XP. Any Advice?
