dvdr burning problem
hi first let me say hello from this newbie, was passed the address from a goodfriend that recommended this site for help, said you was a great bunch of people, so hello to all.
ok the problem started about 6 weeks back maybe 8, i have had a pioneer 105 dvd-r burner for 4 and a half months working fine. then one day it just stopped burning dvdr, kept rebooting the machine. sometimes it would burn a dvd-r and then once it had finished burning that dvd-r, the machine wouldnt respond to my commands. so i took the dvd-r burner back to the shop they had it for 2 weeks, couldnt get it to work, so they have sent it to pioneer, another 30-60days wait for the burner to come back.
so i brought a new burner the liteon dvr-+rw the daul format 112s is the model, so i installed the burner, tried to burn a dvd-r and what do you know same problem, rebooted the machine. i was gobsmacked.
ok my setup i am running
amd athalon 2000+ xp
1gig sdram
64meg ddram graphics card
liteon dvd-+rw burner
500w psu
msi kt7 turbo mobo think thats the model
and windows xp pro
so all in all the pc can handle the burner, i have had a 105 working for 4 and a half months so it was about the time of all this blaster that it all went wrong, i have checked the pc for these worms but im ok. so im at a loss.
hope some one can help me resolve this problem i have had someone mention to me about IAA intel active accelorator problems, or something to do with a intel problem.but i wouldnt know where to look for this.
thank you for any help in advance.

i have used most of the versions of recordnow, from 4.12 through to 4.50. stomp, veritas, recordnow, prassi, dvd decyrpter.
have removed ASPI layers and re-installed them, still know good, i have evne installed xp on to a total different drive and tried to burn a dvd-r with just 1 10gig hdd and a 80gig hdd on one ribbon, the master, and on the secondary the dvd burner set as master by its self, still im getting the same problem. then all of a sudden i will manage to burn a full dvdr, then it all plays up again, i have tried many different brands of disc princo, ritek, memorex, traxdata,
please help im ready to kill the machine, could it be to do with the bios in anyway
or the chipset, i dont have a clue myself, just that it is going wrong

think i may have solved the problem have burnt 3 discs straight off the bat, removed the windows xp sp1 pack, so far seems all ok, will be keeping my fingers crossed, hope this helps someone else in the future, will keep you posted as to its burning powers so to speak if i hit 20 then i would say it is quite safe.

Might want to check your PSU if it starts acting up again. A Bad PSU can cause all sorts of problems.

ok have put the liteon into my dell dimension 8100 machine, and im trying to burn a film on that machine, that machine will only burn at 1x for some reason, cant understand why, when i managed to burn with the same burner in my amd athalon 2000xp+ at 4x speed.
have put my pioneer 106 into my 2000xp+ machine, it will burn at 4x but it crashes with recordnow max4, but is stable with dvd decrypter, i hvae updated firmware to latest v107 for the pioneer, and also updated firmware to my liteon ldw 411s think thats the model number. but im still having major burning problems.
the psu isnt that old it is a gold daul fan 500watt psu im using in the 2000xp+ machine and the dell machine is standard spec psu.
so all in all im confused as it is 2 machines both having burning issuses with 2 different dvd burners

make sure the disks say they can do more then 1X. Almost all of the disks I found in my best buy store can only do 1X

have checked the discs and they are 4x ritek go4, also datawrite yellow which are princo, are also 4x.
i have just managed to burn a couple of games. and i did a image of gangs of new york, as my daughter wanted a copy, i did this i imaged the film with dvd decrypter, then burnt it with dvd decrypter, after this i burned a game, but when i went to my computer, it told me that my dvd-r drive had gangs of new york still in the drive, it wouldnt clear no mater what disc i put into the draw, could anyone tell me why the drive would hold this information, and not clear it self.
thankyou for any advice
