need advise on gaming system

I have a friend that wants a budget gaming system, below is what he has now and what I would like is suggestions on the rest of the components to build this.

By budget I mean give me options that his MOM can buy for Christmas

1 stick of 256MB RAM
1 stick of 512MB RAM
Memory type PC2100 (266-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC)

Radeon 9600-PRO w/ TVout (128MB) by PowerColor

For the CPU, i would suggest a Duron 1.6 GHz. You can get the off newegg for around $43, and if you are lucky enough to get the "B" core, then you can overclock to 2GHz+.

How about a Western Digital Harddrive? 80GB, 8MB cache for around $90.

You could probably find a motherboard with an nForce2 chipset for around $70. Check newegg for the latest prices and customer reviews.

As for the case, get somthing off newegg for $50 or less with 350W PS.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

This place has excellent prices: HERE!
I've dealt with them numerous times, and they are reputable.
But how do they get those prices so low?
(Their warranties suck!! so I wouldn't by OEM from them. But anything retail is backed by the manufacturers warranty.)
Check out the new ECS nForce board. Only $58 USD!!
It's rev.# 00 though so...
But I've owned two ECS boards, K7S5A & K7S7AG, and they've been rock solid! Good Luck wallie_x

ECS boards?
Luck of the draw...if you get a good one , you are lucky...
ASRock?? I've had GREAT luck with them & TS is good too...
Newegg has started carrying quite a few (more) models because they are a good company.

NewEgg isnt' the only store I'll buy from, but its always the one I checki first. Why bother anywhere else? NE not only has great pricing (almost always the best around) but they have GREAT service.
