Advice about AMD needed

Hello everyone, I' have some questions. You see, I'm going to buy a new computer and I'm thinking on a AMD 2600+ with 512 RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 pro 128mb; or maybe a p4 2,4ghz with the same other stuff. The AMD is a bit cheaper but I've never owned one, always had intel. But everyone seems to suggest AMD, so I thought I might get your opinions on the matter.
Also are there any other things I should consider with AMD, like cooling or anything?

Regards,

Drakon

oh yeah....with AMD you better make sure you have good cooling or else you're gonna find yourself with a piece of fried silicone (do you like it rare or well done? ).....also make sure your PSU is at least 300W or above with AMD

p4 with hyperthreading and fsb up to 800 mhz gets my vote, 400 mhz is the absolute best you'll get from amd

not to mention 512k L2 cache 0n the p4

that said a lot of cleverer people than me reckon that amd s are the gamers friend............good advice from lost and found about the cooling..........

512mb ram should be your minimum..........xp just loves ram

happy shopping

buying a bundle from a store should be a safe bet.

building and modding can hazardous tasks.......and expensive.

both the systems u mentioned would be fine.........buy either one and demand that the store include a copy of CALL OF DUTY.

the amd system is cheaper because amd processors are in general cheaper tha intels........but take not the amd 2600 plus only runs vat 2.06 mhz not 2.6 mhz as it's name might suggest and has fsb 333mhz. i'd still plump for the p4 system.

all the best with whichever u buy...........don't forget the copy of cod

It wouldn't make sense to mention the FX-51 'cause Drakon was asking for a comparison between a P4 2.4GHz and Athlon 2600+.

Go AMD way, its will be cheaper and you can use your savings bucks on a faster video card, hint the new ones from ATI have HL2 coupon.... just my 5 Cents...
