ATI TV Woder and Pent 4, 3.2 Ghz

I am having problems with a ATI TV Wonder VE card. The video freezes after several minutes and the program locks up. I understand that there is a problem running this card on hyper threaded systems. My system consists of a Dell 3.20 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 with a ATI Radeon 9800 graphics card. There is suppose to be a fix but have been unable to find it. Please help if you know a work around.

2 things - is your power supply sufficiently powerful? aka over 300w? The card doesn't suck much, but your proc does. Grab a 350-430w if your short on juice.

Next, are you having heat problems? Go download MotherboardMonitor from www.motherboardmonitor.com and check your temperatures once it's configured.

Now, if all these check out clean, you know it's a problem with the Hyper-Threading. I would first recommend disabling it, and running it without HT. If it fixes it and the performance is fine, leave it, but if you want it enabled all the time, ask someone who deals with P4's (not me).

Happy troubleshooting!

I had a similar problem, Microsoft has a hot fix available but you need to contact technical support, it's a 35$ call, but I received a refund after explaining it was a known problem, here is the link.

I referred to the above post when I contacted Microsoft, they sent me the hot fix, which has corrected the problem.
