Quick question about ATI vs NVIDIA
Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying a new computer, and it'l probably be a AMD 2600+ with 512 RAM... With that I'm also buying a new graphic card, and since I don't have alot of cash I'm thinking about an AGP Geforce 4 mx 440 ddr m 128mb 8xAgp or an ATI Radeon 9200 m 128MB ddr 'cause they cost just as much. I've heard that ATI cards are better but I don't really know anything about that area, so I thought maybe one of you guys could give me some advice.
Regards,
Drakon

Step down a tad on the CPU spec and use the money to step up on the graphics card - an ATi 9600SE isn't too far away from a 9200, and provides much better performance as well as being DX9 hardware.

Forget the 9600SE, get the regular 9600. SE is a butchered, slashed down version and it'll never run DX9 for crap. I realize you don't have a lot of money, but this entire upgrade should be do-able for under $300.

Ok, thanks guys, maybe I'll get a 9600 pro instead.
But I take it from your answers that you all agree that the Geforce card is way inferior than Radeon right?

Yes, if you had to choose between the MX440 and the R9200, the 9200 is better. If you dont do a lot of gaming, you will be fine with the 9200.
