Cleaning your computer

I had a brainstorm today while performing my regular clean-up of my PCs.

I was always using dry-air(Duster+ or something like that). As most of you know, it ain't exactly cheap using this stuff. I've wanted to use an air compressor, but without a "dryer" to remove moisture from the stream your SOL, for possible damage to system components. The brainstorm was this. I have a high speed air pump, purchased at WalMart for airing up inflatables, air matresses etc. It is manufactured by Ozark Trails and runs somewhere between $25 and $30. IT WORKS GREAT!!. It produces a stream of air with great enough force to remove dust from heatsink fins, clean keyboards, it really worked great blowing out the power supply. NO more canned air for me! I can save lots of money in the long term using this! Just thought I might share this idea with everyone! Max_C

Sounds like a great idea.

How much does a can of compressed air cost and how often do you clean your comp ?

Good idea.

I used a 2 Gal. 1.5 HP air compressor for a long time. I just kept it in the house and rolled out my hoses to the outdoors. Keeping the compressor indoors spopped the condensation problem. I checked the tanks offen just in case.

Cheers!

It generally runs nearly $4 per can. If I clean all 8 PCs twice a year and use 1 can per PC (depends on how much dust in PS etc) then I have already saved money. I also clean neighbors PCs, so now when I charge for doing that I can make more money cause the expense is less.

Fellowes Air Duster is about $9.00CA and a 10oz can will clean only 2 to 3 computers.

Cheers!

I use my shop compressor with an old filter that was made for soft hat divers breathing air.
