Finance FTP on edu having trouble with listing

Hi

I am running serv-u 4.1 on windows xp home, any computer on the lan can connect to it but people not on the lan couldnt connect at all. Then i listened the server on port 5190 (aim uses this) because no other ports would work. Now people can connect but when it comes to listing a dir in passive it times out and in normal it says could not transfer data, i ve tried all kinds of things i shut off all my firewall,,

Any ideas?

He said it didn't work with passive mode on/off.
I don't have an solution for you, but don't you think your edu has blocked ports for a reason? Don't you think you'd get into trouble for doing something they're trying to prevent?
