Win2k3 HD Installation

Ok, here it goes.

I installed an additional 160GB hard drive in my computer (as slave on a channel on my mobo, as opposed to the ones on my ata card). I'm running Windows 2003. The jumpers are set correctly, the bios found the drive no problem, etc. I booted windows and it started it's autodetect, found the drive, identified the drive as a maxtor model etc, and then due to my own error (trying to launch something right away..i forget what) my computer froze, so I rebooted mid hd installation. Now it shows up in device manager as "Disk Drive" and doesn't appear in my computer. If I try to remove the device from device manager, my computer freezes. I've tried booting in safe mode.

This is rather frustrating. If I can't get it to work in the next couple days, I'm formating the os partition and starting anew.

have you checked in disk management?
right click my computer, select Manage, when the MMC opens go down to disk management

I would remove it from the IDE cable, reboot, let Windows start up normally. After it has, shutdown, then plug it back into the IDE cable, and let Windows start up normally again.

If that doesn't work, leave it plugged in and then uninstall the Pimary IDE Channel or Secondary IDE Channel from Device Mangler. I don't believe you can just uninstall the drive anyway, has to be the controller drivers. Upon reboot, it should fix itself.
