New system building. But what?
I just built a new system for myself about a month ago, and my aunt saw the performance and the price i paid, which is considerably less than i would have paid had i bought something similar from a company that sells premade computers (ie. Dell or whatever) She has asked me for a price on a new computer for her. Im not exactly sure what she wants, but i know she doesnt need anything as high performance as mine. Do any of you guys have any opinions on some parts that come at a good price but still have good performance? Price comes first, but i dont want to give her a system that will be outdated in 6 months. It doesnt matter to her whether its AMD or Intel (shes not up on computers) but i prefer working with AMD stuff, however if intel offers the better deal, i wont be above switching sides in this case, after all its not my computer, so technically im not being unfaithful... right? |

If you plan to overclock the computer I would recommend the AMD 2500+ CPU.

| Hungrycookpot, you are best off buying her a pre-paid machine.
Reasons:
1) It is under warranty, any problems, and it goes back to THEM
2) You don't have to be her tech-support, they do that
Believe me, you will not hear the end of it if you build her a PC, she'll be constantly asking you to fix this and where does this go etc.

Haha right on the spot !!!
I remember buying a computer for my 80year old grandmother
after 3 years she still does not know what the IE icon looks like
nor does she know what a adress bar/enter key is.

She is, however, your Aunt, and you may wish to offer her lifetime tech support
PS: find her a local library or community group that offers free/cheap classes on using a pc... pay for it yourself... it will save you LOADS of grief and aggravation over the coming decades.
