Boot error help.

Ok Guys and Gals, I got a little problem, and need help.

I boot up, my specs:

AMD Athlon XP2500 Barton
ASUS AV8NX-X KT400 chipset Motherboard
80GB 7200RPM Maxtor HD
Samsung 52x CD-R
Geforce 4 Ti4200.

So, I boot up. It gets past the POST, goes past that table with all the IRQ's etcetera. Then it stops. Says

AMD Athlon X... Updated Successfully. (Yes, X, not XP).
DISK BOOT ERROR, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK

Sometimes it says

DMI POOL ERROR, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK.

Now, this is really confusing, I have no idea, I think it's a faulty motherboard, but I am not sure, any help would be VASTLY appreciated.

Is this a new build, or does it have and existing OS that workerd previously?

Yeah, it worked fine for about 2 weeks, now it just comes up with that message.

Check your drive connections and test other RAM if possible. Also reset the BIOS to default settings.

Done, done and done.

Did that before mate, still the problem occurs.

What i'm going to do is flash the BIOS (via floppy, ALT+F2), then see if that works, if it doesn't then my motherboard is dead.

Oh well. Any other ideas are appreciated.

Any unusual HD noise? Can you run a Maxtor HD test utility and see if everything is okay? If there is a way, I'd also try to check the HD controller (if possible, switch to another controller on mobo, and set that as the boot device), that might tell you if you have mobo problems.

put your hard drive in another machine and see if it works. if not then yeah its prob yr mobo.
