Windows Media Player plays Video Upside Down

I have Windows Media Player 7.1 for Windows 98. Everytime I play a movie trailer or any video it plays upside down and inverted (letters are backwards). I have uninstalled & reinstalled several times without effect. My neck has a kink in it. Any ideas?

Welcome to TechIMO!

You likely have a broken DirectX DirectShow driver for your video card. Some manufacturers never fixed this problem, and it is more common than most would believe.

You can either try upgrading your video card drivers or install an application like DivXG400 to flip the video back to the correct position.

Good Luck,

Thanks! I went to http://www.tac.ee/~prr/videoutils/ and downloaded DivXG400 and it was watching the Matrix trailer "right side up" within 2 minutes of reading your reply.

Thanks again,

Just like the other thread that I have problem with.

I have a short footage of 34mb and if im not mistaken, it is in *.wmv format. What is wmv? And why can't I play it because all I hear are just sounds. I also receive a message saying, error downloading codec. But my pc at home has no internet connection. Where can I get my latest codec for that wmv format?

I may also want the latest divX codec, because some of my footages I've download from the internet failed to play it. Thanks in advance.

black banners

Also had problems with a movie that was both flipped and mirrored so it wasn't particularly fun to watch. Then read about this G400 thingy and installed it. after installing looking vey hard at all the configuration options thinking I'll never sort this out, why doesn't someone explain how this works!
Then read in usage: just run clip. Right you wish I thought. But what the heck, ran clip and to my amazement: it worked!!!
One more thing though. Although everything is set to 4:3 I still have those black banners on top and at the bottom. How do I get rid of those???
Tanx for any help/tips/comments.
