Computer will not boot BLACK screen
I have an ASUS P2B-B rev1.02
I installed the board with a working card for the monitor, 12.8gig hard drive with winxp and a powerleap CPU 1.0Mhz.
When I start the computer all I get is a blank black screen on the monitor. The hard drive acts as if it will load and then stops.
I get a few normal beeps during start up but none the would indicate bad memory, CPU or a bad card.
I have removed the all uneeded componets and turned computer to see if I have any beeps indicating bad memory, card etc but no beeps it just runs quiet.
When it boots it does not riun a meory check, the BIOS does not show and No windows access. Cant boot into safe mood becuse it does not load/boot to access anything?????
Any help would be great.
BAD CMOS battery?? Jumpers in the wrong place??? I dont know
I am truly lost with this one.
Thakns Greg

You shouldn't hear anything but ONE beep during POST.
Try booting w/ just CPU, RAM, Video Card, and FDD. Add your HDD and then any other components one at a time to eliminate them as neeeded.

you need just a regular p2 or p3 to test that thing, lol.
The powerleap sort of adds some uncertainty to the equation as far as jumpers etc

I have booted w/ just CPU, RAM, Video Card, and FDD. I then added the HDD and one beep but screen just remains black.
ASUS indicated that the rev1.02 will accept the 1.0MHZ CPU

So, when you have just the CPU, RAM, Video Card, and FDD, you get something on the monitor? If not, then you shouldn't be adding the HDD yet. If you do get the BIOS screen and then don't after adding the HDD, then check your HDD jumpers. If it's just a single drive, try w/o any jumper at all. If that doesn't work, try it w/ the jumper set to Master.

I have tryed to start computer w/o and with HDD.
Nothing happens. It does not post. NO bios or OS. I know that everything is in working order the only thing left I believe is to try a regular PII CPU.
I went as far as to install a different mobo skt7 and everything worked. This mobo P2B-B slot 1 has stumped me???????

I had a working P2B-B. Put a pci card in the shared ISA/PCI slot along with a ISA card in the ISA slot. I guess that was not the thing to do because it has never booted since that day. Fan runs and all I get is a blank screen. You didn't do the same thing did ya..... Gary

Yup, I tried to reset the bios, took the battery out for awhile, nothing. It has either an AT or an ATX power supply system. The ATX wouldn't turn anything on, but the AT will make the fans run.... Its toast, I would bet the farm on it. Got a long weekend, we will play with it and report any good luck. This is a first for me, but it was a stupid move, not that I haven't done stupid things before. Thanks for the help. Gary
