whats better 2k or xp?

I have a non legit copy of 2k prof and xp prof. I was planning on upgrading to xp prof when I got my new mobo and cpu. Am I going to have a problem with xp? I mean, should I expect to have to call ms to activate over and over?

Well, first tell us what your computer is and its specs. I would say it depends on what you think. If you are going to change hardware alot then you will have to activate Windows XP everytime you do so. I would go for Windows 2000 Professional if I were you. If you didnt like it then you could try out Windows XP. Both are excellent

I think all your problems will take care of itself when you activate the "non-legit" copy of XP.
No worries from there

There's a gazillion threads here about 2k vs XP if you search around.

He/she/it deserves whatever problems he/she/it runs into. Running non-legit software is just begging for problems.

I'd give my opinion on which OS is better, but it just ticks me off to no end when I have legally paid for my OS's, and some nobody comes around asking about his 'non-legit' copies of what I paid good money for.

Discussing ILLEGAL software is against the rules here.
Stop stealing software, and go buy a legal copy. Don't ask about pirated software around here.

Some nobody? Yes. A 3 post newbie is a nobody to me.

Who am I? A paying customer who resents someone driving my prices up by stealing.

"legally challenged"? How about THIEF, CROOK, LOWLIFE?

post count does not reflect ***** size....besides...the service pack q is a legit question because in the field one could run into that situation easily enough...where youd be working on a system not knowing whether or not it was "legal"....you could be having certain problems only because of some service pack issues.

I ask because it seems I heard that about sp3.

And the new guys dont know all the rules yet....maybe a lil patience would be nicer instead of calling them names etc. Be funny if the dude is 6'4 and lives near you, lol.

And I did not imply that it does.
It does however reflect (in my mind) a user's credibility and reputation.
When someone who obviously just registered is asking about illegal software, it is a black mark in both columns to me.
