a/v problems

my sound and video have been playing back at 2x speed for a few weeks. i have tried many things and nothing has worked (updates, drivers, restores, even taking the cards out and cleaning them). today i got a virtual memory low error and the system shut down a "nt ....something" program. i dont remember what it was but afterwards the sound and video worked for 30 minutes or so. then went back to 2x speed. i am using XP and this problem is happening no matter what media player i use, ive tried about 6 different ones (windows, vlan, divx, winamp, etc). please help!

Well this is pretty basic to startout but, whens the last time you scanned for viruses/trojans/etc?

Do you remember anything significant that u did b4 this started happening? I.e. install a program, update a driver, update windows?

I suppose one option would be to use system restore to a point b4 this was happening. Just make sure you backup data first just incase.

i restored to two weeks before it started and it still did it. i have run virus scans and defragmented all hard drives. the only thing that was installed was windows security updates, but i cant remember exactly when and i dont know where to find them in the system.

Send a message via AIM to phenious
Do you have an SB Audigy installed. They have the ability to time shift Audio. Maybe something is making that happen.
