alright, i'm running apache and i downloaded mysql 4.0 and i run the install file and installed it. now how do i use it? and is that all i need to do to make it work?

What os are you using? Linux or Windows?

I believe you just need to have the process run in the background, then install something like phpmyadmin to manage the database

You need to create and connect to the database using the mysql prompt,

Mysql's website has wonderful documentation.

I would imagine that mysql would install shell extensions, but it may not have. Either way the control center should take care of you.

ok, i downloaded them programs but its asking me for host name and passwords and stuff like that? i didn't know that i had any of that for apache?
