Kids CGI Scripts: Help

I'm trying to install ikonBoard on my server and I've got everything in the right places, but when I try to execute the installer.cgi, it gives me this:

Server error!

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

Error message:
Premature end of script headers: installer.cgi

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster

Error 500

All the CGI for my MoveableType install works fine. I've reuploaded the files in case they were corrupted. Can't think of anything else it might be. Any ideas?

on the script... does it have the right path to the perl directory?

should be somethinglike this: #!/usr/bin/perl

in the begining...

these scripts sometimes ask for the full path of your server.

/var/www/domains/yourdomain/blablab

something like that.. you should ask your host.

error 500 means you don't have rights to run cgi scripts from that directory.

windows or nix based system?

did you put the files in the "apache root/cgi-bin/" or in the "document root/cgi-bin"? they should be placed in the apache root/cgi-bin, and in the config of IB, you need to tell it the correct path to it.

I put the files in the cgi directory and it still said that. I don't think it's a permission thing.

However, I wasn't aware that the installer had to be configured. Working on that now. Thanks, Droppy.

you have to ask your host where the perl directory is "path"

and also, the complete path for your server... it might be different on yours.

perl is in /usr/bin

I've got the full path on the server.

I didn't see a place in the file to change the perl path anyway.

Hmmm.

Oh, there it is, but it's #!/usr/bin/perl, and that's where it is.

All the rest of the paths it asks for are absolute and I've got them set correctly, I'm pretty sure.

Ya, I followed the instructions to the letter.

The error I'm getting is apparently caused by not sending, or sending incorrect http headers.

make sure you upload all the files in Ascii mode.

if you do it on binary, sometimes they get screwed...
