CD_RW only writes@ 1X and 3X only.

What is happening to my CD-RW.. it is a 48X12X48
it use to burn CDs in no time..now it is writitng like if i had a packard bell... is it going Dog?
how can i know or make sure.....?is any aplication to test it..?
Please advise me you awesome geeks?

Go here and get a trial copy of the diagnostic software..that may tell you something. http://www.arrowkey.com/download.shtml

Be sure your aspi drivers are up to date.

The latest ASPI layer and check tool can be had at Adaptec. http://www.adaptec.com
Do a search for ASPI, ( get aspi_471a2.exe and get aspichk.exe as well)

If you can write at 3x, there's something definetely very wrong there.

I've only seen 1x, 2x, 4x osv.

Yo Gyurza,

I would make sure the DMA is enabled on ide 2, via Device manager/ide/secondary/properties.

Did you change HDD, OS, or burner recently...
