athlon 2500+

hey guys
i have a 2500+ as u have noticed from the title
my temps are 37C idle and around 48C under load
room temp is around 26C
i have the regular heatsink/fan that came with the cpu..
also have 4 fans in the case..(side,top,2back)
i was wondering if i can overclock to maybe 3200 or a lil less...
do i HAVE to get a new heatsink/fan for the cpu..?

if i can overclock safely... do i just change the multiplier...
because i was testin this out... and as i increase the multiplier by .5 ... the 2500 would be 2600(assuming i had it on 2500)

thx guys

You would change the FSB, not the multiplier. Try it w/ your stock HSF, if you don't get what you want, then upgrade to something better. At some point you will also probably have to up your Vcore.

ALSO, using the 'Search' will find you LOTS of info about OC'ing.

You can overclock by changing the FSB and/or changing the multiplier.

i changed my fsb to 185
i use the program CPU-Z
in it, it shows me that the fsb is 185 mhz
muiltiplier 11xbus speed 370mhz
core speed 2035 mhz
i notice the the core speed increased... but it still says 2500+ barton
.. even when the comp starts to load...
on the black screen it also says 2500
