You need to forward PORT 80 to whatever PC is your webserver.

What router are you using?

Access the web interface by typing in the following address > 192.168.1.1. Type in the username and password. Typically admin/admin.

Click the advanced tab.
Click the forwarding tab.
In the Ext. Port column type in port 80 on the left and whatever port is open on your webserver, typically port 80. Choose the protocol you want forwarded. In the case of a webserver you want tcp packets forwarded, so click the box under the tcp column. Type in the last 3 digits of your server's ip in the IP address column. Then check the box under the enable column.

Hit the apply button and you're done.

If you're running Win2k or XP, open up a command prompt window and type ipconfig, it will then list an IP address. It should be in the format 192.168.xxx.xxx. In linux, you'll have to use the command ifconfig to obtain your ip info.

As well, if you have a firewall running, you'll have to allow port 80 requests to pass through the firewall.

You'll have to find the ip address that your router has obtained from your isp.

Again, log into the web interface of your router, then click the status tab. You'll have to sets of information; one for your local area network - or lan - and one for your wide area network - or wan. Under the wan section, you'll see yet another ip address, however it won't start with 192.168.xxx.xxx, but another number altogether that follows the same format. That is your internet IP address. That is the number that you have to distribute to your friends so they can access your server.

As well, there is the option of a service such as dyndns.org that assigns a name to your ip. However, that is another thread altogether.
