Display problems

Hi

My computer keeps on reverting to 16bit colour display every time a certain program runs at start up. I can't identify the program, it's just a small blank window. I looked through msconfig but I can't find the problem. This has been happening since I installed the free version of AVG antivirus 6.0, and I uninstalled it now, and this problem remains. Additional info: GeForce FX 5600Go Graphics card in a Sony VAIO 816S. Please help.

It's okay I fixed it, I found a program called "slave" running (norton identified it as a security thread), so I deleted it and it's all working fine now.
