ZoneAlarm & McAfee

I have a work PC at home that I use for remote support. I use the free ZoneAlarm and work has a McAfee VirusScan license, so they want me to use that. But every time I've tried to install it, I get a BSOD and have to fart around with "Last Known Good . . ." several times in order to get my system back. This is on Win2K Pro.

Our own PC has PC-cillin, which seems to work fine with ZoneAlarm. Anybody else run into this?

First Mcafee has never worked for me. Unfortunately everytime I try to install it I have to in the end format my computer and start all over again. It screws my computer all the time I have tried it. Second is that Mcafee has already a firewall and that can affect using with ZOne Alarm since ZA is a firewall and its not recommended to have two at the same time. The strange part is that PC-Cillin also has a firewall but it seems to work fine with you though. I would recommend you to stay away from Mcafee.

I agree, McAfee has always been a nightmare in my book.

Just a day ago, I had a person bring me a PC w/ the Qhosts-1 Trojan. They had McAfee on it. I updated to their latest DAT's and it never caught the trojan. I uninstalled McAfee and put NAV 2K2 on, it caught it during the install of their latest DAT's.

I've never been one for ZA either though, I prefer Sygate.

Forgot to say that too. Zone Alarm has giving me errors and issues lately and changed it to Sygate and I must say its much better in my opinion. Although I am talking about the Pro version of ZA, which I think is great too. I would go for Sygate over ZA free though.
