Kids windows xp home, freezing

hello, i've got windows xp home on an e machines thing with 512mb ddr ram, celeron 1.8, im845gl mobo, onboard intel extreme graphics which i've disabled and installed a hercules 3d prophet 9000 with 3.7 drivers (cos i heard the 3.8's could overheat the card). i've also recently installed turbocomm adsl modem drivers for my ea900 usb dsl modem, and all the xp security updates. Also got NIS 2003 fully up to date.

got a pb optical mouse too....just in case it's too bame

problem: every other day or so the pc just freezes completely, no error messages or anything just, the mouse and key board just stop working, usually right after i've clicked to begin typing in an address bar or a login box.

if memory this really ony started to happen after i'd tried to run the halo demo, very slowly, with ust 256mb ram........and it nearly killed my pc.........when i would quit the halo demo it would shut down the pc.

i,ve run virus scans...all clear and tried looking for conflicts in my device manager but no joy...............anyonegotneeideas?
