A little basic graphics help please?

Ok. First off. I am a total newb at this so be forewarned, lol.

I am wanting to mkae flyers for a business....or to be a little more specific..."brochures" may be a better word.

I have made 'flyers" before using word, but I want these to be professional looking.

Probably to be printed on gloss etc.

Here is what I have to work with.

Basically a 3.2mp Minolta Dimage Xt camera (the tiny one)

I have a few basic photoediting programs like Arcsoft photo impression etc.

I have a few printer software things like the "printmaster" type.

Basically I want to photograph my computers etc and be able to make nice pro looking brochures.

I am not really looking for design help, but more the mechanics of it.

For instance...is it feasable for me to take pictures of the comps and have them show up like this http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...1001_SK_919675

or this one http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....115-081-09.JPG

...in other words with the white background??

How is it done...is it just photo'd with a white background or is it done by editing?

Basically I want it to look similar to a magazine page

or anything like this would be nice..the top part, the part in blue, that is sweet http://www.sony.com

Any ideas? or hints etc?

or does anyone have any examples of flyers or brochures that you have made at home?

Thanks, JP

it's just a regular photo with a white background put in. The easiest way to achieve it is to photograph the object on a solid color background and then remove it through photoshop.

Is there a cheap version of photoshop or something free that will do the same thing?

Send a message via ICQ to crouse
The gimp will do that.
There is a windows version of the gimp....... it works great too.

edit:

The easiest way to get this is to download gnuwinII from here:
http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/en/index.html

It also comes with about 150 other REALLY cool open source programs ...... most ported from Linux. The gimp installs from here very well...... I've done it personally on 4 computers and works every time I think there is one dependecy........ and that is on the cd as well.

well am dreamin..err..planning on doing it all myself right now...but I might end up getting a printer to do it....cuz I am not needed many copies at all..just making one brochure book..or maybe a couple of them.

I dont have a GREAT printer...I have an epson c60....but I been using cheap ink...too cheap to buy real ink, lol.

Of course now it is a biz expense so maybe I splurge.
