Strange Printer Problems

Hi,

Recently two users on the local network (about twenty pcs) have reported problems printing in landscape from word and other software using the network printers (mostly brothers, HL-1230). There is nothing wrong with the printers/drivers as I have no problems printing from my machine and others.

I've checked everything and can't find anything wrong. I've even tried reinstalling word on one machine (the repair option)

They haven't changed any settings (so I'm told, but folk always say this when something goes wrong) so what's happened? I'm not aware of any virus/worm that can do this, and if its a bug in the software, why doesn't everyone have the same problem?

I'm sure reinstalling all software from the operating system up will fix the problem, but I don't really want to do this for a silly bug like this!

Thanks, Dominic

P.S.

All machines on the network run 2000 or XP.
All machines are upto date with the latest patches etc.
The latest printer drivers have been installed.

One user reported a problem with his lotus organizer file at the same time (the background has changed to red)

What happens when you enter the printing properties, select landscape, and click print?
It prints it in portrait? Or does it give an error message?

It prints it in portrait. Although if I select landscape and click ok/apply and then double check the setting it still says portrait. Neither user has received an error message

Hmm.. What if you try to print from the problem computer as an administrator, or whoever that has more privileges?

I tried logging in a administrator and myself but the problem is still there, so it's related to the machine and not the user

Well, my next guess would be, then that the printer drivers have got corrupted in the computers.
Other than that, I don't know...
