nec 1300a dvd burner problem

Hi,
I uploaded a 10min. video that I shot from my camcorder to Nero 6 and attempted to burn it on a Memorex dvd+r disc. When I get to the burn portion I get a message saying my compilation can't be burned to the type of media I have. Also when I put the blank disc in the dvd burner, the dvd-rw icon on the "my computer" page changes to cd player, then back to dvd-rw when I take the disc out. I can play dvds ok, I have the latest firmware, the bios, etc. recognizes the burner. I have not tried any other brand of disc yet. Could it be as simple as trying others brands, and if so, any recommendations on what to use. Thanks for any help. Joe

Make sure you are using DVD-R REWRITETABLE DISCS. You cannot use regular cds if you want to burn a DVD. You have to buy BLANK DISCS THAT MADE FOR DVDS. Its like game cds you cant play a ps2 cd in dreamcast. Get my point? Your computer thing you want to burn regular file or music NOT DVDS. ok?

Click 'recorder->medium info'.
What has nero to say about the specific dvd+r(/rw) in drive?
If it doesn't recognize it, it might be a brand issue.

Well, I got part of the problem figured out. I am new to Nero 6 and I did not see the dvd, cd tabs in the upper right corner of the interface. I had it set for cd instead of dvd and therefore it was looking for a blank audio cd when I had a blank dvd disc in the drawer. After changing the tab to dvd, the video burned fine. The new problem is, there's no sound! As I am capturing video I hear sound, but when playing back to preview or after burning, there is no audio. I tried it in other players and it's the same story. I can play dvd movies in the player and the sound works. I also tried to make a backup dvd using DVDshrink and there was no sound with that project either. All connections are good, it appears all audio is enabled correctly, so I don't know what's up. Any ideas? Thanks again.
