Quiet system assistance....

Should anyone want to help.

I want to quiet my computer down.
Budget: $100 Vendor: Newegg

Needed:
case
quiet PS
2 quiet case fans total (1 in, 1 out)
quiet heatsink and fan for AMD XP 1800+

Can it be done for $100???

I do not overclock and I am not worried about temps too much. Case should be able to mount 2 HD's, 2 CD drives, and a floppy. Front USB would be a bonus.

Thanks.

I don’t know any good recommendations for the majority of what you are looking for, but the Vantec Stealth fans make virtually no noise while still blowing moderate air.

I am using a antec 430W power supply true430 and can not hear it run but it cost like $70.Vantec Stealth case fans are also pretty quit as I have a 92mm and a 80mm in my main box also which are like $10 a pop. As for a HS/fan I am using a Swiftech MCX462+ with a 92mm vantech spectrum ($48 total). My system is housed in a lian-li pc-7 case for around $90. It is a nice quite setup. BTW the system is running a XP2200+

The HS/F I got with my 2500+ had a nice copper bottom on it, so I decided to try it with my 2200+...and guess what, it's surprisingly good (idles around 38 degrees).

So....if you can get one of those (I am pretty sure somebody would give you one for free, or nearly free), that takes care of the HS/F.

Case: Antec aluminum series lan boy mini tower case Model# LANBOY w/ Antec 350W Smartblue power supply

$79

Fans: Vantec Stealth (2)

$19.98

Total: $98.98

Those sounds familiar ^

My quietest pc also has Antec PS and Stealth fans. Neither are the quietest you can buy, but do the job nicely. It's all in a cheap case that has the interior coated with rubberized undercoating from autozone. My case has no window or cut-outs (other than on the back) and turned out to be very quiet. I believe it cost me around $85. PS drove the price up, Case was a cheap floor model.

How about the vantec HS/F with the TMD fan on it? $25 doesn't seem too shabby.

Looking for a cheap case to stick a 350W antec PS in w/ antec stealth fans. I notice some of the antec cases newegg have an antec fan in the rear but it does not say they are stealth fans. Is it safe to assume they are stealth?

I can get this case
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=11-129-117
for $58 shipped

or the lanboy for
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ription=LANBOY
for $79 shipped.

Tough call... don't really need the extra 50 watts of PS, the way my computer sits I won't see the window, and I am not sure that aluminum is quieter... decisions decisions.

More likely than not, the aluminum case would be a tad noisier. The tradeoff would be better heat dissipation though....as for the PSU, why not spend an extra $7 and get some headroom with the SLK3700AMB w/350W PS? Seven bucks is pretty cheap insurance.

My whole goal is quiet. Heat is a minor concern.

It is actually $17 more for the other case when you factor in the additional shipping $$.

My system is currently running a 300W Enhance PS with no problems.

Leaning towards the LANBOY for some reason, but quiet is nice. Would rather have a steal case tho and may just pony up the additional $14 for the case you suggested.
