Switching My Server to Linux...

I'm currently running my web server with Windows XP with the three main programs for my website PHP, MySQL, and Apache. All of the programs are some of the newer releases. I'm looking for a Linux based OS that is mainly for using it with web servers that comes with Apache, MySQL and PHP. I've never used Linux so hopefully what that can run quick. My servers specs are Pentium II 347 mhz processor, 128mb RAM, Rage LT PRO AGP 2x, ~9gb harddrive, and that's about it off the top of my head.

Also, if an OS comes with Apache, PHP, and MySQL installed would it be automatically installed while installing the OS or would I still have to configure it all?

Thanks a bunch, I'm hoping I can have a Linux server up and running with little down time.

Pretty much any distro will come with that for you out of the box, just do a package selection and make sure they are included (although they should be by default).

If you are looking for a distro to just get started with RedHat will do fine, or Mandrake. Both will have configuration utilities to get things going and are very user friendly. Let us know if you have any other questions about specifics. But looking at what you want, and your hardware, you shouldnt have a problem with any distro really.

yea I would have to say either redhat or mandrake.. probably RedHat. even tho it's not considered as newbie friendly it is still RPM based and redhat is a popular server platform...

i386

The SRPMS will contain all of the source rpms so that you can build rpm packages optimized for your mahine. Don't worry about that for now
