Buzzing in speakers

If I turn up the volume on my speakers too much, I get buzzing. This did not happen before my hard drive re-format. I doubt it's the speakers because I've tried 4 different ones.

I use the onboard sound on my Abit IS7. Any ideas on how to remedy this problem?

Windows XP Pro.

I get buzzing even when nothing is playing. It sounds kinda like when you have a mic plugged in. I don't have a mic plugged in, though.

I notice in my earphones that if I am physically touching my joystick's USB cord that there is a humming or buzzing sound in the earphones. Maybe you are touching a cord or something.

Your sound may be shot. (IMO) check to make sure that ALL the volumes are not turned ALL the way up. That makes my current 'puter make that lovely feedback noise.

No... I did not update my sound drivers. That could be it. Btw, the buzzing happens no matter how high or low the levels on the volumes are.
