Outdoors redhat linux 8.0 screensaver headaches

no matter what screen saver I select in red hat linux 8.0, the test button works fine, but when the actual screen saver "kicks in", it is blank. why? how do I fix this? Also, does anyone know of a way I can make KDE look like windows 2000? I tried xpde.com, but I don't know how to install it

hello,
1. i assume that you are using kde, the 1st thing to do is make sure it is running, open a terminal and type ps -e | grep screen . something should come back - like 1234 00:00 xscreensaver -if not then it is not getting invoked. i would add something like exec xscreensaver to the file $HOME/.Xclients-default

2. i have no idea.... here is a theme from fvwm you could use...

/me runs and hides to avoid seeing any other themes that PB might suggest...

(Just Kidding)

Here's a list to lots of KDE themes. I think you can do a lot better than looking like Windows 2000.
