Kids Backdoor Subseven Trojan Horse Question

I'm using Norton System Works 2003. Over the past couple of days I have been getting repeated alerts that the Backdoor SubSeven Trojan Horse was trying to access my system. Using the trace feature always gave me AOL as the point of origin. AOL says they know nothing about it and the tech support went so far to say that he had never heard of this Trojan before. Having experienced numerous problems with AOL in general over the last 10 days(new user) I cancelled my subscription. Should I be concerned, was this indeed AOL or an AOL user, or?...trying to get in. AOL also told me that their firewall is superior to Norton's and by cancelling I will be vulnerable to attacks. I regularly update windows(XP). I also will be getting DSL in a couple of days, anything I need to know or be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

It sounds like it's just coming from an AOL user. As long as it's not getting through, you're fine.

When you switch to DSL, you're gonna wanna make darn sure you keep using a firewall. I prefer Sygate myself.

Do you have 'File and Printer Sharing' enabled? If you only have one PC, you don't need it on.
