I want my dual monitor back

I have a gf3 ti200 and a s3 trio with the later as pci and they used to work happily with xp with the pci set as the primary and reversed in windows.

I have just changed my mobo from a via chipset to an sis748 (i think) and both screens will boot up and windows loads fine, but when i move my mouse on the second monitor, (the s3 card, the pci one) after a few seconds, about 6 the whole computer freezes and will not do anything.

Has anyone had similar problems, because my housemate has the same thing. Does anyone know how to fix it.

Thank you

when you swapped the new mobo, did you do a complete reinstall or did you rely on PnP to detect the new hdware?

your best bet is to try a different pci card. they're fairly cheap nowadays...

The older S3 cards can't go as secondary (as BIOS sees it) because they lack a few essential PCI capabilities. They also have a PCI bug or two that may or may not bite you, depending on the mainboard - and the newer the mainboard is, the less likely it is that its BIOS still contains the workarounds required for the early S3 cards.
