I recently purchased a WD 160 GB 7200RPM ATA100 8MB HDD. I installed it into my pc using the included controller card. I installed a fresh version of XP Pro. Since I've done this my PC isn't performing as good as when I had my old 40GB 7200RPM ATA100 2MB HDD.
I get hiccups very often where the mouse will jump and sorta jitter around the screen. Also, when I'm playing Winamp it will also skip around and hiccup like when I open a program or what not.
I ran Sisoft Sandra on it and got the attached results for my C: drive.
I got 25771kB/s when I should have gotten 31400kB/s according to Sandra. I then tested my D: drive which is just a different partition on the same HDD and got 32497kB/s.
Can anyone help me out!?
Could it be a sound card problem? Motherboard?? HELP!
