Have you checked all the jumpers etc??

That powerleap deal sort of adds a little confusion....did it come with instructions about fsb etc.

Go here and download the manual and check all the jumpers..there are several if I remember

http://france.asus.com/support/downl...-B&Type=Latest

Are you saying you NEVER got it to boot? Or you installed XP and THEN it wouldnt boot??

You might have to try to disconnect everything off the motherboard except the cpu, vid card, one stick of ram and try to boot like that to see whats up.

Disconnect floppy cables, ide cable, modems etc.

I have checked all the jumpers on the mobo however not the jumpers on the processor.
The hard drive already had XP loaded and I inserted the XP disc it acted as if it was going to do something but screen just stays black.
I can not access the bios or the dos system to even run any of the prompts.
I will check the CPU jumpers.

The PowerLeap does confuse the issue, but, if you have stripped the system back to just CPU, video card and 1 stick of RAM, are you getting any beeps when you power up? A series of short beeps usually indicates bad RAM, and a long one usually indicates bad video.

Also, the PowerLeaps sometimes require that the very latest BIOS revision be present in order to work.

"the hard drive already had XP loaded"

well, if you are just switching the same hard drive back and forth it will be problematic.

what about safe mode??

How does one load the latest BIOS when it will not boot at all. tried a flash disk but will not boot from floppy. Hve striped it down and get no short or long beeps. Computer just runs with nothing on the screen.

have you tried another vid card?

Do you have any spare parts laying around? Even an old spare P2 would help troubleshoot the situation.
