Help me tweak my P4 2.4?

Hey guys,
As I've discovered from the last thread I was in - you guys can be very helpful! And I've been wondering how to tweak/overclock my system properly for ages.

I have:
*P4 2.4c 512kb L2 - cache
*Gigabyte P4 Titan Series, SiS 648FX + SiS 963 AGP Set, 8xAGP, ATA133
*Radeon 9600 Pro
*1G DDR 333 RAM

I basically want to know how to get the most out of all my hardware - graphics card, cpu... whatever can be tweaked - I want tweaked! But I want to be able to do it safely.
I only know how to install the standard intel fan that comes with intel cpu's. All other cooling devices I've never had experience with. So I'd prefer to be able to do it without having to fiddle my hardware setup.

Cheers guys!

You can get some performance upgrades from the manufacturer of the video card. It might help to get something like Nortons Systemsworks which has CLEANSWEEP. This enables you to clean out temporary and useless files that are clogging up your system. Ever since i got it my computer has been lighting fast and i run a Sony Vaio PCV-RX550 1.5 GHZ 60 GB. This might work wonders on your computer. Norton's only cost about 40 bucks!

Cool, thanks man. I'll look into that. Will it help with the performance of games too?

Wait---no need for Norton to tweak your P4's performance---

Monitor your temps, up the fsb
Optimize your mem settings and devisors
Voltages can be upped if components are responsive (cpu/mem)
Rage 3D Tweak v3.8c or otherwise might work for your Radeon
Extra cooling could help---

----> check your PM Narpstar

Up your FSB little by little till your system becomes unstable then lower it to find the best frequency, raising voltage will also help stability raise it .50 when your machine becomes unstable and then see if it helps, if not raise it more. If it gets to hot then lower the frequency and the voltage.

Make sure your RAM is at the lowest of latency. While overclocking if your RAM gets unstable then lock it down to 333 Mhz by selecting the speed yourself.

Powerstrip of Rage 3D Tweak to Oc your video card, raise the core little ny little till it gets unstable, find a good frequency and leave it. Do the exavt same with the video memory.

Yeah - but unfortunately I don't know how to do most of the stuff you're telling me about. I'm a noob see... I've only just started really getting into this stuff.
Do I up my FSB etc. in the BIOS? I'm assuming so... and with my video card, what is meant by "powerstrip of Rage 3d"??

powerstrip and and rage3d are programs that run in windows which are used to control your memory and graphics card speeds.

Yes, the FSB adjustment options are in your BIOS. They are probably under a heading called Advanced Chipset Options, or something similiar. I'm not sure how the Gigabyte BIOS looks, but from the article I'm reading on the 648FX NB, you're going to need to change the Frequency Select option to manual, and then increase the value in CPU fine-tune little by little (usually 2-3MHz at a time). Also, your RAM is only PC2700, so that will probably hold you back considerably. You're going to need to do a bit of math and adjust the CPU/RAM freq. ratio to keep it around 166MHz. Do what you can to keep your RAM in spec. so you can figure out just how much the CPU will do, then play with the RAM.
