Gaming !!!PS2 Network Adapter HELP!!!

hello,
my name is Christian Orona. I have PS2 with a network adapter but no router. Will I need a router to connect? Since I don't have a router or anything I hooked up my ethernet cord from my PS2 to my modem, my phone line from the modem to the wall outlet and the power cord into the power outlet. I tried connecting and it said "Checking your network." It said It couldn't find it. I have a westtell wire speed DSL modem I got from verzion dsl (my isp) and I SPENT 40 BUCKS On it! breathing now.....CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!

Well, first things first....you don't need the phone jack hooked up if you are using Ethernet and DSL for your internet service. You may be confusing the the PS2. 2ndly, you did/are using the disk that came with the PS2 ethernet/modem, right?

how?

can you tell me how to set up my modem to my ps2 without a router? I am new to the network adaptor. Also, I tried using the setup disc yes

when I am talking about the phone jack, I am talking about my DSL modem's port that goes into the phone jack. please help

you should be able to just directly connect the DSL modem's Ethernet cable to the back of the PS2, put in the set up disc and follow the onscreen directions....

I suppose I could try setting mine up through my Cablel modem and router.....

Did it detect the actual Network adapter that you installed in the PS2? I just set my PS2 up and it went through all the steps without a hitch

c44151 is on a distinguished road
when I installed mine it went with out a hitch with and with out the router. the only handy thing with a router is connecting and disconecting the ethernet cable between the computer when there is no router, but with a router not all things work like they are supose to. I have halo pc and the only way I can log in and play online is a direct connection between the dsl modem and the computer.

the ps2 did find my network adapter. it said connecting to network and said the network test failed. I have a westlelll dual connect modem with Verizon DSL
