dos file names v 98 file names

probably basic stuff to u guys, but how do I save to a text file the FULL names of all files contained in a windows folder. I have folders that may contain 2k or more files and/or sub folders. In a dos prompt window the file names are not shown properly . They are shortened with the ~ symbol.(something to do with being fat16 or something? )
thanks for enlightening me

From a dos prompt on Win98 I don't think (could be wrong) there is a way to view the full path names
You're seeing the 8.3 file naming format

If you know VBS you could write a script that does it.
maybe something like this could help
