Well, if your system isn't going to see much gaming action, then any old cheap video card should do fine. |

Well, it's FRYday, and here in the promised land, that means a six page ad for FRY's b&M. If you have one near you, look at these:
Radeon 9200 SE 128mb DDR $69, no rebate required.
Radeon 9200 128mb DDR $79 don't know the diff????
Xcelo G force 4 MX440 $49 after MIR
I don't game at all, and tend to stay with the one that brung me, which is NVIdia. The T1 series seems much better all around than the FX series.
If I had to buy one from Newegg today, I would look at the Gainward T1 4200 or 4600 for about $150, with VIVO

Out,
Have you checked any of the latest video card comparisons from Anandtech or Tom's Hardware? That would probably be your best bet. Sorry I couldn't help more but it's been awhile since I went shopping for any.

Well, Computer Geeks has a Retail MSI Ti4600 with some nice SW for about $165 and if you're willing to splurge for more, a "combo" with a de-branded 15" Fujitsu dvi-only LCD.
Trouble is:
a) not my area of expertise;
b) I can't get any info on the Fujitsu LCD;
c) at least $15 more than the stated limit, but both still a thought..
Anyway, my guess is at that price range you'l probably do best with the "outta date" TI-series because it has DirectX8 and not 9 !
[See my own post on DirectX8 vs. 9.]

Yo, Out,
My recollection is that the nVidia GForce TI4400 delivered near-4600 performance with a price-tag closer to reality.

That connect 3D card, my friend just got it in his computer, ill be building it tomorrow, so once i get it out i can tell you waht i think. But overall, the 9600 is slightly better than the fx 5600 imo. The 9200 is decent....as is the ti4600, but they are both DX8. I think the best choice for something that will last long into the future would be the ATI 9600 128mb. The one with 256mb of ram is pretty much overkill, even for gaming. Saphire, Powercolor, whichever manufactuer they are all good. I would get ATI 9600 128mb (i noteiced the COnnect3d was not in stock....That saphire 9600 256mb would be good too if you dont mind the extra 20 bucks...but i dont really know the kind of performance on that, probably just as good if not better than the regular 9600 128
EDIT: Out, you may want to check this out Gainward FX 5600 (refurb) $94.50 with free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1

definitely get the 9600 (128MB). No matter what you do don't get an nvidia card, except for maybe a 4200.
