To BARTON --or Not to BARTON ?

Here is situation:

HTPC rig--mainly for LR Multimedia uses, intergrated with Audio Receive, TV, DVD and VCR.

Who knows, I might even get into TV-setGaming !

Memory: Crucial 512 X2 = 1024 Mbs, CL=2.5, PC2700, 333FSB
Mobo: still under consideration but at least FSB333.
- - - -

Here's the rub:

Barton PC 2500, L2 512, 333FSB fer $90.
Thoroughbred PC 2600, FSB333, conventinal L2 at , er, about $125 or so. Enough to notice, but not enough to stop a motivated buyer.

So which is better for above described applications?

And : Would a KT400 Ultra vs, an nForce 2 400 chipset Mobo enter into the choice of Barton v. non-Barton?

And I ain't going Athlon64 at $300 + at this point !

D G

P.s. Gotta buy soon !

YOu can nickle and dime yourself to death. If you want to go for a better Proc buy a better proc but there isnt alot of difference between them...and i do like the flexablity of Bartons
