K7N2 - CPU power supply

What does the CPU power supply (JPW1) do exactly? Is it just a way of powering the CPU without running power through the board? I can see no difference at all when running with it connected versus with it disconnected.

Your talking about the four-prong connector that originally was intended for P4 systems right? If that's the case: the four prong connector runs on the 12 volt rail, and even though the newer Athlon XP's run at 1.67volts or what not they still suck enough juice to make the system unstable under heavy load if the don't get their amperes independent of other volt inhaling peripherals. I'd hook it back up. They didn't put it there for aesthetics.
